Measure what you are moving
The box fields describe one size of rectangular box. Measure external dimensions, including packaging. For mixed sizes, calculate their combined volume separately and add it under other items. Include furniture using its packed or dismantled dimensions, rather than the room area it occupies.
Usable capacity reserves space for awkward shapes, access and safe stacking. It is your loading assumption, not a transport-industry standard. The result rounds up to a whole number of loads; an empty inventory needs zero loads.
Volume does not establish a safe load
A sofa can be too long for the door even when its volume fits. Dense boxes may exceed the payload weight before the vehicle fills. Check the rental vehicle's internal dimensions, door opening, rated payload and securement requirements before booking. This tool does not calculate axle loading or certify packing safety.
Use moving costs to budget transport for the estimated number of loads. Commercial relocations also need an office disruption allowance.
