Compare the same move
Use quotes for the same inventory, dates, origin and destination. Add charges that are absent from each quote: packing, stairs, parking permits, storage, long carries or furniture assembly. Do not add a service again if it is already included. Enter tax in the extras field if it is excluded from the quote and you have verified the amount.
The reserve is your planning buffer, not a mover's fee or a prediction of an overrun. Different reserve percentages let you model uncertainty in each option. Set both to zero to compare the stated charges alone. A positive B-minus-A result means A is cheaper on the inputs entered; a negative result means B is cheaper.
Price is only one part of the choice
Check the written inventory, cancellation terms, delivery window, liability coverage and whether the estimate is binding. For a US interstate move, read the FMCSA guidance on unexpected moving costs. Other jurisdictions have different rules. This tool does not establish your legal payment obligation or verify a moving company.
After comparing quotes, use the moving budget calculator to plan savings and non-mover costs. Check your inventory with the moving volume calculator; volume alone cannot confirm payload capacity or access. Businesses can use the office moving calculator to include staff disruption separately from cash expenditure.
