How it is calculated

Budget = [area × material rate × (1 + waste) + area × labour rate + fixed costs] × (1 + contingency)

Build a budget from measurements and local quotes you enter. Use one consistent area unit for quantities and unit prices. No regional prices are invented.

Turn a measured scope into a budget

This estimator suits work that can be expressed as an area multiplied by material and labour prices. Enter one consistently priced scope at a time. A kitchen's cabinetry, appliances and plumbing cannot reliably be inferred from its floor area.

The model adds material cost, including your waste allowance, to labour on the measured area. It then applies your chosen contingency percentage. Contingency is a planning reserve you choose; it does not guarantee that an unknown repair will fit the budget.

Keep fixed costs visible

List design fees, permits, disposal, temporary accommodation, delivery and individual fixtures separately when they are outside the unit prices. Compare itemized quotes with the same inclusions before combining totals.

For a floor-only project, use the flooring estimate; for roof work, use the roof-cost checklist and calculator. The example prices are editable assumptions, not location-based market rates.
